Our Story

Diver’s Community CIC is a Birmingham-based organisation supporting victims of homelessness through immediate assistance and longer term, person-centred support.

Founded in 2024 by Justin Morris, Diver’s Community CIC began as a small grassroots effort. After noticing the growing number of people experiencing homelessness in his local area, Justin brought together a group of individuals who shared his concern and wanted to make a difference. He started fundraising to create care packages filled with essentials such as toiletries, sanitary products, water, and snacks. As he shared these experiences and insights on social media, the response grew rapidly.

Social media has since played a powerful role in helping us share our perspective on homelessness in our city through our own lens. We take pride in protecting the privacy and dignity of everyone we encounter, never showing faces or identifiable features in our videos. Instead, we tell stories creatively through poetry, spoken word, and other expressive forms that allow voices to be heard without exposure.

Our commitment to preserving dignity and identity has resonated deeply with our audience. The growing engagement and community support made it clear that the launch of an organisation — leading to the formation of Diver’s Community CIC.

Today, Diver’s Community CIC is powered by a team of more than 20 volunteers. Our Community Outreach Volunteers run regular outreach projects, distributing survival kits and offering signposting to individuals in need. Alongside this, our dedicated mentors deliver an ongoing mentoring programme, supporting people to reintegrate into society by helping them secure accommodation, open bank accounts, obtain identification, and apply for benefits.

We are proud to be backed by a compassionate community who purchase survival kits and food vouchers to support our outreach work. Our ethical approach - including our commitment to never film rough sleepers - has earned widespread praise across social media.

In 2025, we were grateful to receive funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, and in 2026 we were honoured to be recognised by Love Brum as one of the city’s ‘Hidden Heroes’.
